West Head army track
Historic track · West Head
A steep wartime track down the eastern face of West Head to the World War II army battery above the shoreline, where two 4.7 inch naval guns, an observation post, ammunition stores and two searchlights once guarded Broken Bay. Much of the original stonework and steps survive, and some sections are so steep you climb ladders.
