A Mona Vale cafe with a Japanese side, run by Eri, who trained at a top culinary school in Japan. The Japanese breakfast, the matcha and the hojicha latte are the things to order, and there are gluten free options. The name joins Mona with ka, a Japanese character for home or family, and nods to the sweet called monaka.
Eri comes from a family with generations of cafe and restaurant owners in Japan. Lunch serves are large and filling, and alongside the house blend for milk coffees there is a rotation of seasonal single origin beans for black coffee.
