Aboriginal Heritage walk
Bushwalk · Terrey Hills
A 4.4 km loop at West Head, inside the national park, joining the Resolute and West Head tracks past rock art and engravings of the Guringai people. Red Hands Cave is an easy 1 km return walk if you are short on time, and the full loop takes in an old occupation shelter and views over Pittwater.
The people of West Head were almost wiped out by smallpox within a year of the First Fleet arriving, which gives the art here extra weight. A side track drops to quiet West Head Beach for a swim, and the loop reaches West Head Lookout before a trail leads back to the car park. A vehicle entry fee applies to the park.
