The story behind Nimbus

Nimbus Co began in Bondi in 2016, founded by Su Tuttle and Neil O’Sullivan after their own experiences with infrared saunas.

They wanted to make the practice more accessible, creating somewhere that felt less like a clinical treatment room and more like a place people could visit as part of everyday life.

What began as one studio has since grown into a wider Australian wellness business, with locations across several states, a collection of at-home sauna products and a growing community around the practice.

The original idea, though, remains straightforward: make it easier for people to find time for themselves.

Forty-five minutes, your own way

The Pittwater Road studio has five private full-spectrum infrared sauna rooms, including one fitted with an ice bath for contrast therapy.

A standard sauna booking runs for 45 minutes, with rooms suitable for individuals or pairs. Contrast sessions run for 50 minutes, alternating between the warmth of the sauna and the considerably colder water of an ice bath.

It's a simple distinction, but an important one. You can come for the heat alone, or choose to incorporate cold immersion. There's no need to turn the visit into anything more elaborate.

Beyond the saunas, Nimbus's Pittwater Road booking profile also lists practitioners working in acupuncture, remedial massage, osteopathy and nutrition.

Making the time

Perhaps the appeal of a private sauna is that there isn't much to organise once you're inside. You can visit alone, bring someone along, or make the session part of an otherwise busy day.

And in a place like Manly, where there's almost always something happening, that has its own attraction.

Forty-five minutes without anywhere else to be sounds like a fairly modest luxury. Sometimes, that's enough.
